Research found that tea can eliminate the coronavirus infectivity

Nara Prefectural Medical University in Japan announced on November 27, 2020 that tea beverages sold in the general market can kill the coronavirus and make the coronavirus harmless.

This experiment was carried out by a research team led by the school’s professor of microbial infections Hisaichi Yano.

The research team purchased 10 tea beverages from the supermarket and then mixed the coronavirus in the test tube. It was found that after 1 minute, the virus would lose up to 99% of its infectivity.

The study also found that the tea with the most anti-virus effect is black tea. Pour black tea into a test tube with the coronavirus, and 1 minute later, the infectivity of the coronavirus is only 1%, and after 10 minutes, 0.1%.

The experimental photos released by the research team claim that the white spots are the coronavirus that has not been killed in the tea.

Can drinking tea help eliminate the coronavirus in the body? Professor Yano said that research on the effects on the human body shows that it is currently at a "possibility stage." He said: "The effect of the catechins in tea on the treatment of influenza has been confirmed, so we expect that drinking tea will have the same effect on the prevention and treatment of the coronavirus."

Professor Yano also said that catechins have been confirmed to eliminate the infectivity of protruding proteins attached to the surface of influenza viruses, and it is estimated that the same effect can be found for the coronavirus.

Dr. Wu’s comment:

The right tea to use should depend on the specific symptoms. For example, green tea is suitable for wind heat type of cold and flu sympotoms, such as sore throat, yellow phlegm and yellow nose water. Black tea is suitable for wind cold type of sympotoms such as runny nose with clear nose water, feeling cold or chilled, sneezing etc.
