Synopsis

At the age of 3, Dr. Ming Jie Wu witnessed his father cure his sister's asthma with ancient Chinese herbs.  This left a deep impression on young Ming, who was amazed.  At a tender age Ming decided to dedicate himself to the ancient practice of Taoist Chinese Medicine (TCM) like his father and grandfather before him.  TCM is based on taoist philosophy.  Health is achieved through the balance and harmony of the whole body system, mind and spirit.  This interconnected and interdependent relationship is understood as yin and yang.

Experience Ming’s story, philosophy, and wisdom, as he teaches and heals in China and the U.S.  His practices and beliefs are almost but lost in modern day.  He encourages and teaches us to take back our power, gain a deeper understanding of “Who Am I” and maintain a healthy balance.   We see that much of this is in stark contrast to the western approach to medicine and health.  Ming wants us not to be a passive patient, but to learn how to take care of ourselves and then teach and help others.

The teachings are deep.  The interactions touching.  The testimonies heart wrenching and triumphant.   You may learn, perhaps even awaken. You may cry and you may cheer.  This documentary will touch your spirit and uplift your soul.

Tong Ren Healing:

Developed by Tom Tam, and an integral part of the Tom Tam Healing System, Tong Ren is a form of energy therapy for restoring health and vitality. Tong Ren is based on a belief that disease is related to interruptions, or blockages, in the body’s natural flow of chi, neural bioelectricity, blood, or hormones. Tong Ren seeks to remove these blockages, restoring the body’s natural ability to heal itself, even when illnesses are chronic, debilitating, or otherwise untreatable. -- http://TomTam.com

                45 South Main Street

West Hartford, CT (next to Dunkin Donuts, across from Town Hall)

The Tai Chi Small Frame Solo Form is comprised of 15 positions, high stances, and compact movements.   Therefore, it does not take long to practice, and can be accomplished in small spaces.  It works more on the torso than on the limbs, emphasizing movement of the vertebral column or the central nervous system in order to develop natural reflexes.  The predominantly circular, rotating movements serve to increase suppleness and massage the organs.  It is said that the small frame solo form appears to have smaller movements outside and larger movements inside the body.  It loosens the body by gently stretching the muscle groups. With regular practice this form can improve flexibility in the body, and increase energy externally and internally.

Although the movements are gentle and flowing, Tai Chi requires deep mental concentration and physical control.  Regular practice can lead to improved circulation, balance and flexibility, and to increased internal and external strength.   It promotes good body alignment and stability, and produces an aerobic exchange of oxygen.  Because Tai Chi embraces efficient breathing, inner focus, and mental awareness, it is often referred to as a moving meditation.   It is a low impact, weight-bearing exercise that can be practiced almost anywhere, at any time, by most people.

Theresa McGee is a practitioner at Wu Healing Center, and in her private practice Illumine Wellness Arts, where she guides clients to eliminate unwanted energy via phone consultation.  Although she is a long time professional musician and conductor, her interests extend beyond the artistic and into the burgeoning fields of bioenergy and cognition.  For over 18 years, she has studied many methods of energy work, earning  certifications in a variety of healing modalities.  With a wealth of experience and specialized skills in energy work and movement, she is uniquely qualified as a practitioner and instructor of Qigong and Tai Chi at the Wu Healing Center, and as an energy worker in her private practice Illumine Wellness Arts (www.illuminewellnessarts.com).

Fascinated by the role that the brain, perception, and the sub-conscious play on performance, recovery, and general health;  Ms. McGee has clarified ways to help release the inner blocks that limit our gifts and overall wellness.  By thoughtfully integrating complimentary modalities, a distinctive program has evolved to help others in their search for increased awareness, strength, wholeness, and peace.  Her patience and insight allow her to connect with individual clients and groups wherever they are in their progress.  She continues to explore ways to strengthen others in their pursuit of self-mastery, creativity, peak performance, wellness, and an abundant life.
