Man Jing Zi (Fructus Viticis)
This product is commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine. The Shennong Materia Medica, listed as the top grade.
Alias: Jing Zi.
Source: Vitex trifolia L. litter, deciduous shrub Vitex trifolia L. var. simPlicifol Cham. L. or the dried ripe fruit of Vitextrifolia L. Wild.
Shape identification: spherical, 4~6mm diameter, black-brown, densely covered with light yellow dots. Most have calyx covering most of the fruit at the bottom, with five small lobes on the edges, often split into two lobes, grayish-white, densely hairy. The constitution is hard and not brittle. The cross-section is grayish-white with brown oil spots, and it is divided into four chambers, each chamber containing one seed. The seeds are white and oily. Aromatic and light. It is best to have large grains, uniform and full, and no impurities.
Main ingredients: containing volatile oil (camphorene, etc.), vitexin (vitexcarPin), vitamin A, etc.
Pharmacological action: evacuate wind fever, have analgesic, analgesic effect.
Preparation: stir fry till black.
Taste: bitter cold.
Meridian: into the liver, bladder meridian.
Function: Scatter air and clear heat.
Indications: cold, wind fever, headache, red eyes, swollen and painful gums.
Clinical application
It is mainly used for the treatment of headache, especially for headache and eye pain caused by external wind and heat (cold). It is also effective for headaches caused by high blood pressure.
It is used for the treatment of dampness resulted arthritic spasms (limb numbness and mobility inconvenience caused by rheumatism), especially for hand and foot convulsions caused by the elderly with body weakness.
Dosage: 3~9g.
Sample prescription
Man Jing Zi Tang: Man Jing Zi 9g, Ju Hua 9g, Bo He 6g (entered last), Bai Zhi 6g, Gou Teng 12g, water decoction, treat hypertensive headache of the high heat type.
Note: Without calyxes, most of them are fruits that fall in water after ripening, and are soaked in water and fished out to dry.
Case Study: Head and Neck Cancer
Patient: Mili, female, 34 years old
Date of first appointment: January 10, 2021
Chief complaint: Tongue cancer, head and neck cancer, recurring after one year of surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Pale tongue, white and greasy coating, deep and weak spleen and kidney pulse.
TCM Treatment:
1. Aconite powder 1g, Evodia powder 1g, mix well with Huo Xiang Zheng Qi San to form a paste. Put paste in belly button (CV8)
2. Tui Na plus cupping for one hour
3. Herbal powder mixture to take orally for 30 days
4. Tangerine white tea. Ten grams to make tea to drink every day
TCM prescription: Ge Gen 10g, Yi Yi Ren 20g, Ci Shi 10g, Da Zao 10g, Gan Cao 10g, Lian Zi 10g, Ling Zhi 10g, Gui Ban 10g, Huang Qi 10g, Jiang Huang 10g, Wu Wei Zi 10g, Chai Hu 10g, Ba Qia 10g, Fu Ling 20g, Huo Xiang 10g, Wu Zhu Yu 10g, Dang Shen 10g, Bai Zhu 10g, Bai Shao 10g, Pao Fu Zi 30g, Suan Zao Ren 10g, Gan Jiang 10g, Bai Jiang Can 10g, Long Gu 10g, Yuan Zhi 10g. Take 3 grams each time, dissolved in 4 ounces of warm water. 2 times a day for a total of 30 days.
Dr. Wu also asked the patient to stop consuming milk products, soybean products and other cold and phlegm-damp causing foods, and to practice Qi Gong every day, combining movement and stillness.
