What makes our Wuyi tea so sacred

Wuyi Mountains - from Sonwutea blog

Wuyi Mountain is a special place on earth where tea has been growing for thousands of years far from toxic chemical sprays or pollutants. Wuyi Mountain is high up in the mountaintops of Fujian Province where only certain people have access to grow, and even fewer that can sell/trade tea. Our teas in addition to Sonwu teas are a rare and delightful treasure in today's modern markets.

Considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, they cite, "The Mount Wuyi World Heritage property is wholly owned by the government of the People’s Republic of China. It is listed as a state-level nature reserve, a state-level scenic area, a forest park and a state-level cultural relics protection unit, thus assuring the safeguarding of both the cultural and natural values of the property, under a number of national laws "

Nathaniel & Michele Vinson of Sonwu Tea met with Dr. Ming Jie Wu one fine afternoon to try a collection of teas they had bought claiming to be of Wuyi Mountain. When they all sat together and compared the taste, they discovered something incredible: "What we discovered from our tea tastings, blew our minds. These competitor teas were for the most part commercial grade, for the mass market, and sprayed with chemicals. And only one tea companies’ tea was found to be true and acceptable as advertised ….non chemical and high mountain tea." And that is the beginning of SonWu Tea, a partnership dedicated to serving world class tea between the three. Dr. Wu has access to the exclusive supply and gives some of his best teas to sonwutea to sell. Discover the fine collection of high grade exquisite teas sourced only from the Wuyi Mountains on their website or try it yourself in Alicia Collins' upcoming group tea tasting class. This class comes with a complimentary tea gift set as well as exclusive tastings from some of the rarest Wuyi Mountain teas.

The Sonwu Tea trio ventured together into the Wuyi Mountains and filmed the magical experience, listed below. In their blog posts you can also learn about the tea masters of the Wuyi Mountains that we source our teas from and are available for purchase on sonwutea.com. One tea master, Tea Master Zhou, affirms the sacredness of Wuyi Mountain teas, "He (Zhou) tells us that 80% of the tea in the Wuyishan market is not real WuYi Tea because it is not grown on the mountain. Master Zhou can grow on the mountain because he’s from the village. There are about 5,000 tea distributers in the city, but only 10 of them have the real Wuyishan Mountain rock cliff tea." Sonwutea is the only brand to sell Master Zhou's tea and they are the only ones in the Nation that have his teas from China.

Many patients and clients get the same teas every month so we are rolling out a new subscription service where you can get your favorite Wuhealing and Fengyang Teas every month shipped automatically to your address.
