A touching story during the coronavirus break in China

Today, a picture was circulating on Chinese social media. A young mother in a nurse's suit was squatting by the road and gobbling her lunch. A baby not even one year old was tightly hugged by his father, watching his mother but could not get close ... this photo touched many people’s hearts.

A journalist saw the picture and determined to find out what happened. After an afternoon of searching, he finally contacted the mother, Jiang Shi'e.

Jiang Shi'e, 25, is working as a nurse since last December. At around 7:30 this morning, her workplace, Dianzi Health Center in Luxi County, received a call for help from Zhu Meiqing, a villager in Pailou Village. Jiang Shi'e and Dr. Wu Huaguo were in charge of Zhu’s treatment.

Due to the critical condition of the patient, Dianzi Health Center decided to transfer the patient to Luxi County People's Hospital for treatment.

When the patient was admitted to the hospital, it was time for lunch. Since January 26, Jiang Shi'e has been fighting in the front line of coronavirus prevention and control, and never went home to see her family. She missed her 9-month-old child very much. In order to see her child, she called her husband to bring the child downstairs, and stood on the street to look at him from a distance. She could not hug her husband and child to avoid the risk of spreading the disease.

Her mother-in-law heard that she is back in town and immediately took the prepared lunch downstairs, insisting that she should eat a home cooked meal. Since her colleagues were waiting for her while eating instant noodles in the car, she didn’t want to wast any time, and immediately crouched down by the road and devoured the food.

When the reporter asked to have a video interview with her, she said that she had only done what a medical staff should do, and there are many people like her working hard to fight the coronavirus outbreak.
